StopWatt was started by a small team of engineers and homeowners frustrated with how opaque household electricity costs had become. We are not an electric utility, and we do not sell power. We make a simple plug-in accessory that homeowners can use as part of a broader effort to be more conscious about energy use at home.
The project began in 2021 around a kitchen table after one of our founders looked at three years of utility statements side-by-side and realised how much delivery fees, regulatory charges, and rate adjustments had quietly climbed without any change in household behaviour. The idea was straightforward: build a no-fuss accessory that an average homeowner could plug into a standard wall outlet, then pair it with clear, plain-language information about where household electricity actually goes.
We are not a licensed electrical contractor and we do not give individualised electrical advice. The StopWatt accessory is a consumer product. It is not a replacement for sound wiring, modern appliances, or professional advice from a licensed electrician. If your home has wiring concerns, please consult a professional.
Orders are fulfilled from a US-based third-party logistics partner. Payments are processed by a major card processor. We are a small team and we work hard to keep the operation lean — that is part of how we keep customer pricing reasonable.
